Modern MEINL frame drums represent some of the oldest drums used in music stemming from the farthest reaches of the globe. Ancient frame drums were traditionally used for dance, celebration and various ceremonies by providing rhythmic foundations as well as overall presence, as meditative harmonic sound effects are easily achievable. The MEINL Mizhar frame drum has a deep 4" shell and a thumb notch that allows for easy finger placement to execute pitch bending techniques and intricate rhythms played between both hands. Having an extra deep shell allows for full sound development and deep tones that project from the instrument. These drums are typically struck with the fingers close to the edge where the drum naturally resonates to its fullest. This model of the MEINL Mizhar comes equipped with a hand selected goat skin head for uniform thickness and warm resonant tones. The lightweight and rugged Rubber Wood shells have outstanding acoustic properties with recessed lugs for minimal interference. A Brown Burl finish also adds stunning aesthetic appeal. Included is an allen wrench for tuning adjustments.
- Internal Lug tuning system: tuning lugs on the inside of the shell allow players to easily change the sound and tension of the drum
- Deep hardwood shell: The shell of the mishear is deeper than most traditional hand drums, allowing it to create lower bass notes and overall longer sustain; measures 14" X 4"
- Hand selected goat head: This hand drum is equipped with a goat skin head that provides a pleasant resonance at both high and low frequency
- Thumb hole grip: the lightweight build of the frame along with a thumb hole grip makes this mishear drum comfortable and easy to play
- Add cultural sounds: the unique timbre of the mishear drum is designed for traditional middle Eastern styles but it may be used in contemporary music to add unexpected flavors
